I have found these resources useful – and I try to remind myself:

Toolkits and Guides:
Living Values – Community Links (2006)
A helpful tool to assist charitable organisations to examine their own values and how they can protect, promote and extend them. Includes a range of worksheets and exercises. “Values are the beginning – they are what inspire us; values are the means – they are what we do and how we do it; and values are the end – they are what we strive to achieve.”

Leading with Values: creating a safe organisational culture – ACEVO (2018)
Produced in response to recent safeguarding failures in some national charities. “Values are the core ethics or principles which a charity will abide by no matter what, and the foundation for creating a safe workplace culture. They must be authentic, relevant to the work of the charity and resonate with the staff team. Once values have been set, they have to be lived. Values should be the golden thread that runs through all decision making in the charity.”
